I'd love to read Mr Godin, if not for geo-blocking

I received an email from Seth Godin’s Domino Project this morning advising that PublishersLunch had created a digital version of the advance copies publishers regularly provide booksellers. ‘Using ebooks to promote ebooks‘, wrote Seth. I love it, so I went to download it.

Except that I can’t. I’m in Australia and the content is geo-blocked* to North America.

The content industries wonder how to stop ‘digital piracy’? How about starting with not creating the need to hack, crack, cloak IP addresses or simply hit up the Pirate Bay or Usenet in the first place?

Would the future leaders with the fortitude to stop the idiocy please stand up.

  • Yes, yes, I can (and did) circumvent the block but that’s not the point, is it!
