Wishing Mark Webber well

I’m not a motor sport fan – but I am a Formula One fan. There’s a difference!

Anyhow, here’s to wishing Aussie Mark Webber well as F1 returns to Europe at the Spanish Grand Prix.

I find Mark’s career an interesting one. The guy is one of the best in the world at what he does, which is drive highly engineered motor vehicles in the most technical sport going around (if you’ll excuse the pun). But he’s only cracked one Grand Prix win since his Formula One debut in 2002. [It’s actually 2 wins but no-one cared come Brazil ’09 with Button wrapping the championship.]

His podium success reminds me of the Australian football (i.e. soccer) team. Great talent but they don’t win the games that matter. It’s not that Mark can’t win, he someone somehow finds ways not to. Quiet inexplicable.

Anyhow, I wish him well. So if you care (and I know many of you ‘book types’ won’t), wish the guy well too. Mark is in a league of his own and that deserves respect.
