I used to resent spending money. I used to resent others making big fat profits. That was a long time ago, but I know people who think that way today.
I now invest money. I invest it in capital and services that improve my business’ productivity. I invest it in leisure pursuits that (I believe) enhance my quality of life. I invest it in my children’s education. I invest it in various charitable activities. (I invest it all over the place, mostly in places where I have no control over the outcome of the investment.)
Businesspeople should focus on the investment and not the spend. Focus on the value being created and not the currency.
(This of course does not mean you should run your business without implementing rigorous fiscal control.)
